The Montessori Method of education was developed by Italian physician Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori believed in a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children. It is based on the belief in the fullest potential of children. It helps in developing children physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively according to their natural interests and activities rather than the use of traditional methods.
Through repeated practical life activities children develop concentration, confidence and independence. Our music program combines rhythm band, cultural music appreciation and music experimentation. Emotion and creativity can be expressed through the daily availability of art materials, projects and music. Senses are refined through the sensorial curriculum area. Christian values are reinforced through Bible stories and classroom activities. The classrooms are multi-age, allowing natural peer teaching and constant socialization. Children have freedom to choose activities of high interest and repeat those activities until fully mastered. The Montessori teacher observes children to determine their interests and prepares the environment to serve the child’s needs. Teachers are trained in the Montessori Method to prepare the environment to serve the child’s needs.
