CALH is located at 200 E. Evans Street in Orlando, FL. We are conveniently across the street from AdventHealth Orlando, WholeLife Church and less than a 10 minute drive from Downtown Orlando.
The idea to have a center like Children’s Academy at Loch Haven began over twenty two years ago. Head pastor of WholeLife Church, Andy McDonald, saw a need to serve the local community and the healthcare industry with a child care facility.
After many years this vision became a reality and in November 2004 we opened our doors. The need was so great that within the first 3 months our enrollment doubled and has continued to grow since.
The academy was owned and operated by WholeLife Church for many years, but in 2017 we became an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization. CALH is now governed by a board and is under the leadership of Director, Linda Rumsey, who has been with the academy since the beginning.
The academy is open all year round but will be closed in observance of the following holiday’s*…
*Should a holiday fall on a Saturday, we will close on Friday. Should the holiday fall on Sunday, we will close on Monday.
Our curriculum combines the strongest elements of existing early childhood research and age-appropriate activities with a Christian emphasis. We use state approved and Bible based developmental curriculum in all of our classes. We are proud to be a pilot VPK provider and provide the Montessori method of learning.
CALH has on average 56 faculty that work day, nights and Montessori. Our educators meet or exceed the Florida Department of Children and Families requirements for Early Childhood Education. They all have certification or degrees as well as an abundance of experience. All staff members are FirstAid and CPR certified, and trained in Fire Safety and Blood Borne Pathogens.
